Opening Keynote: The Pathway to Canadian Legalization

Canada will become the first G7 country to legalize and regulate recreational cannabis from production to consumption by fall 2018. As Chair of the Canadian government's cannabis task force, the Hon. A. Anne McLellan oversaw an eight-person taskforce that researched the science, culture and business of cannabis to propose recommendations to the government for legislation that will legalize recreational cannabis use in Canada later this year. She’ll explain what the task force did, and how it ensured that the fundamental principles of public health and public safety remain front and centre. Hon. A Anne McLellan’s keynote will provide delegates with key insights into how Canada is stepping into the international spotlight as a cannabis leader.
