Biography

Cynthia has 25 years’ experience as a team leader and a specialist in strategic communications and sustainability planning, stakeholder engagement, marketing, media relations, issues and crisis management, and message development.

Cynthia has led the Revolution team as President since 2013.

At Revolution, Cynthia’s clients include world-class companies, national associations, small businesses and non-profit organizations. She has personally led award-winning work for clients in economic development, tourism, teen pregnancy prevention, and health and well-being. And her team has won awards for clients in aquaculture, health care, and advanced manufacturing.

More importantly, Cynthia and her team deliver against business results. 

Before joining Revolution, Cynthia led marketing communications teams for the University of New Brunswick and Mount Allison University. She worked in a senior public affairs, CSR planning and government relations role at Irving Oil, building stakeholder approval through values-based planning and communications.

Cynthia spent nearly 10 years leading the corporate communications and social responsibility function at the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, where she developed and delivered the first-ever Responsible Use strategy for Atlantic Lottery in the late 1990s. She led the development of the social responsibility and PR strategies for North America’s first legal online lottery product, PlaySphere, which launched in 2004.

A founding member of the Canadian Partnership for Responsible Gambling, Cynthia is one of the CSR pioneers in the lottery world. She is a past Chair of the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation Communications Sub-Committee, and former member of the World Lottery Association (WLA) Corporate Social Responsibility Sub-Committee. Working with Rick Petersen and lottery leaders in Europe and the USA, Cynthia helped lead the development of industry standards for lottery corporations worldwide. This work included the organization of an international conference and workshop to develop standards, balancing community expectations with cultural and legislative differences around the world.

Today, Cynthia has honed her knowledge of the cannabis space, working closely with the founders of Civilized and having developed relationships with many in the cannabis industry. The parallels between gaming and cannabis have led Cynthia to again partner with Rick Petersen to bring decades of learning and a formula for best practices and success to bear, benefiting all stakeholders and protecting industry’s social license to operate.
